Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM

img from B&H Photo

Last week Canon released the highly anticipated revision of their flagship lens, the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM. This lens is very similar to the original 70-200 on the outside, other than the larger focusing ring. The real goodies are hidden. Such features as an even faster, quieter auto focus, new CPU and a generous 23 elements make this THE lens to have. Owners of the original 70-200 don't see much need to upgrade, especially given the $2499USD price tag; but to those that were considering purchasing a nice zoom lens and have the extra cash, this lens may be the way to go. And don't expect the price to drop on either of these lenses, at least not for another couple months.

The lens is currently shipping from Adorama and B&H Photo.

Canon L Lens Coffee Mugs

Since the Vancouver Olympic games, people have been raving about the Canon 70-200mm f/4 Coffee Mugs. Notice I say "people," not just Canon shooters. Even a few Nikon guys and others are interested in the cool little commodity. This has quickly become a collectors item, and believe Canon has heard your cry. The mug was given away to Press at the Olympic games, and just days ago was released to the public at select Canadian based Photography distributors such as Vistek and Henrys. The item sold out at Vistek within the hour, and sold out at Henrys by the next day. This was by far Canon's most reasonably priced accessory at a mere $30CAD.
So yes, people are still whining about not getting there mug. Well I have some good news! Canon Canada is giving the mug away for free *while supplies last! The only catch is you must make a minimum $200 purchase at the Canon E-Store. This however means that you will be paying MSRP for the product you purchase, which is almost unheard of these days.
