Shot of a Lifetime - Mark Pain

tiger woods

At the Ryder Cup this past weekend, Photograoher Mark Pain [Daily Mail] captured the shot of a lifetime. The last time we saw anything remotely as remarkable was the shot of the 550lb Marlin. Pain was not in the wrong here, it was simply a missed strike for Tiger. Either way he felt the impact, and had to gracefully move on. For those interested, Tiger finishes with wins 4&3 against Europe's Molinari.

Marlin Attacks Press Boat

Established photographer John Schwartz captured the image of a lifetime this week at the Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament. A huge 550lb Marlin took on to a lure that was strung out for two days. John was inside the cabin, but he heard the commotion outside and quickly grabbed is 300mm [Nikon] rig. During the struggle with the line, the fish came within feet of the boat, before slamming into it. At the last moment, the line snapped. Be sure to check out John's Blog.

Real People in Photography - I Mean Acrylic

Alexa Meade is an Installation Artist based in Washington DC. It is always interesting to see things done in a different way. That's what art is, creativity. It is not a new thing to paint in acrylic, it is not a new thing to body paint and photography certainly has been around for centuries. But Meade has taken these basic elements into a new realm of representation. When you look at these photographs, you are looking at a real person! Though the first impression is that you are looking at a painting, well, essentially you are. Meade paints her subjects in a way that is reminiscent of a lively, inanimate structure. Interpretation at it's best! It is easy to see how a conversation can quickly be struck and last quite some time when discussing her work. Meade's work can be viewed at the “Art of Giving” show in London this Fall.

Interview with Meade + more paintings, and her website.
